The Big Show is one of the largest athletes in the world. He's been a part of the WWE for years and at times, weighed more than 500 lbs—even when he wasn't supposed to. It's been an issue for Vince McMahon and his company at times, and while Big Show is in much better shape today, he's trying to prolong his wrestling career, while at the same time, not get McMahon upset, which isn't always so easy.
Big Show was a guest on The Steve Austin Show and while discussing his future in pro wrestling, he recounted a story of the time he was asked to work with sumo wrestler Akebono Taro at WrestleMania 21. The idea was that WWE was going to promote Taro as the biggest athlete in the world. The only problem was, he wasn't. Big Show didn't just outweigh his opponent that night, he outweighed him by a lot.

"I think my heaviest I was 537 lbs.," Big Show recalled, "when I did that match with Akebono, I think Akebono, for a shoot, weighed 488 [lbs.] and I weighed 509 [lbs.] because I remember Vince being pissed at me because Akebono was supposed to weigh more than me. And [McMahon] looks at me and goes, '509 lbs.?' He shook his head and walked off. I was like, 'I'm a quarter-ton of fun! What do you want me to say?'"
While that wasn't likely a fun time for Big Show, it isn't what has motivated him to get back into shape. Hip resurfacing so that he could continue to wrestle, along with a rigorous plan to lose weight has gotten him down to 380 lbs and ready for a return to WWE. He's in great shape, has more range of motion than he's probably had in his entire career and is faster, hopefully, able to keep up with some of the new blood in WWE who are capable of putting on five-star matches.
He says his quality of life is much better and he's just waiting for the right opportunity to make his comeback, showing he's got a few good years left. Big Show just re-signed a contract with WWE to continue his career so he intends to stay in good shape.
Last time we saw Big Show, he put on an absolute barn burner with Braun Strowman. The two have shared their respect for one another on social media. Maybe, when the time is right, we can see another classic out of the two.
