Vince McMahon Wants Drew McIntyre To Carry WWE According To Rumor

Vince McMahon has high hopes for Drew McIntyre on Raw. That's why the Scot hasn't yet been pinned since his call-up from NXT.

If you are still able to watch Raw for more than three hours each week, you'll know its currently being dominated by one angle. The Shield's beef with Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre. All six men competed in tag team action for the third time in nine days during Raw's main event on Monday night.

Thankfully, it seems as if that will be the last time we see that match. The Shield's rivals imploded during and after the bout. The night ended with McIntyre delivering his patented Claymore kick to Strowman. He had accidentally hit The Monster Among Men with one during the match, but the second was very much on purpose.

McIntyre standing tall on Raw this week was just the latest evidence that WWE has big plans for the former NXT Champion. Dave Meltzer discussed the Scot's current status on Wrestling Observer Radio. The journalist revealed that WWE's intention in pairing him with Dolph Ziggler was something of an ode to the duo of Shawn Michaels and Diesel. Like Kevin Nash at the time, McIntyre ticks all of WWE's current boxes.

Wrestling historians among you will know that Nash as Diesel with the WWE Title didn't work out so well. To this day, he is labeled as one of the lowest drawing champions in the company's history. Meltzer pointed out that McIntyre already has one up on Nash. "We know [at least] half of it will be better because Drew McIntyre is a much better wrestler than Kevin Nash," Meltzer told listeners. Harsh? Maybe, but it's hard to argue with.

Since McIntyre returned to WWE, especially since his arrival on Raw, he seems to be oozing confidence. He is very different from the young man who was released by WWE years ago. Fans are positively chomping at the bit to see him go one on one with the likes of Strowman and Roman Reigns. There's a reason that he hasn't been pinned yet since his return to the main roster. Perhaps by this time next year, the UK will finally have its first World Champion in WWE.
