Various WWE Superstars have been wishing Jack Swagger luck ahead of his debut for Bellator this weekend, including Vince McMahon.

Despite professional wrestling effectively being a form of staged combat with pre-determined outcomes, there is a lot of crossover between it and other combat sports. Most notably, MMA. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk have gone from WWE to UFC, and stars such as Ronda Rousey and Matt Riddle have come the other way. The two worlds mix a lot more than the respective sets of fans would like to admit.

The latest star to make the jump from wrestling to MMA is Jack Swagger, or Jake Hager as he is now known. After 11 years with WWE, Swagger departed the company and later that year he signed with Bellator. A little more than a year later and the former United States Champion is getting ready to make his MMA debut.

MMAjunkie caught up with Swagger ahead of his first fight for Bellator and he revealed some of the wrestlers he once shared a locker room with that have wished him luck. "As far as pro wrestlers (reaching out to me), everyone from Vince McMahon to Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns – name dropping here, no big deal," Swagger revealed.

It was the advice Mr. McMahon gave to Swagger that tickled us the most. The chairman apparently kept it short and sweet, simply saying to Swagger "don't lose." Great advice if you ask us. It's obviously advice Swagger intends on taking, and he stands a great chance of winning his debut fight this weekend. Swagger will be taking on J.W. Kiser. It will be Kiser's second fight, he lost the first.

While Swagger can't boast quite the pedigree that Lesnar can when it comes to life before WWE, he does have a similar background. Swagger wrestled collegiately and enjoyed a lot of success. He set a record for most pins in a single season at the University of Oklahoma. As soon as he was done with college, WWE picked him up. Swagger's amateur wrestling background will feature heavily during his debut this weekend, and it might well win him the match.
