WWE chairman Vince McMahon had nothing for the superstars released by the company this week, per a wrestling insider. WWE decided to swing the ax again, less than a month removed from the cuts made a few weeks ago, with Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, and Ruby Riott part of the group of performers who were cut.
According to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, McMahon didn't have any creative plans for those released.
“Everything’s different. I mean, obviously, they’re cutting back," he said (H/T Itrwrestling.com). "They made a list and these were guys that Vince decided that he’s got nothing for them and so that’s who he decided to cut. I think a lot of people were surprised by Strowman."
Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Radio co-host Bryan Alvarez suggested that at least 30 persons would have gotten cut but the former added "there are the six he chose."
Might WWE Be For Sale?
Alvarez would also speculate on the possibility of the company being sold sometime soon as there have been rumors of McMahon considering letting his prized promotion go.
He said: “They don’t need to cut anybody. So what’s the crux of all of this? Okay, I’m not saying this inside information. I have no idea. But I do know it. I guess if you want to report this, you can. There are a lot of people in WWE, in and around the business, fans – It’s no secret. Everybody believes Nick Khan is setting this company up to be sold.”
