It's well-known by now that Vince McMahon has a habit of making last-minute changes to Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live shows before they go on the air, and this week was no different.

Brad Shepard said Oh, You Didn't Know (h/t Ringside News) reported that McMahon wasn't present for SmackDown this week because he was occupied with XFL meetings. As a result, McMahon did a Skype call and outlined the changes he wanted for yesterday's show.

It's safe to say that Vince, WWE officials, the creative team and superstars are happy to have this week done with. Shepard also reported that Monday Night Raw was "a disaster" backstage. It was a lackluster episode with few quality matches and little build towards the main event scene and top storylines.

Nobody can fully understand why Vince feels the need to change up things at the last minute on a constant basis. Many of the company's top and longest-tenured writers have been let go by WWE this year, so it's obvious that the chairman isn't fully inspired by the current creative team.

McMahon hired Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff to take over as the new Executive Directors for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, respectively. Heyman has made plenty of changes to the Raw product, bringing back a handful of elements from the Attitude Era. Bischoff hasn't fully moved into his new role yet.

WWE is preparing to go to war with the rival AEW promotion. NXT was moved to USA Network on Wednesday nights in order to compete with AEW's weekly television program. Beginning on Oct. 4, SmackDown Live will move to Friday Nights under the Fox Sports broadcasts.

What This Means

Once Bischoff takes over as Executive Director, one can only hope that Vince will be less hands-on and let the former do his thing. WWE shows won't sustain excellence and success long-term if the chairman is just going to do everything his way at the last minute. But with Heyman and Bischoff in charge, things should be more organized and structured going forward.
