As John Cena was making his way up the WWE ladder, he was set to be one of the final two competitors in the 2005 Royal Rumble where he and Batista were set to be showcased as two of the company's biggest stars. The match, however, didn't go quite as written and the result was restarting the match and two torn quads for Vince McMahon. It was a story Bruce Prichard shared on this videocast Something Else to Wrestle With.

Host Conrad Thompson asked Bruce to tell the story of how the match got off the rails and how Vince wound up with two torn quads.

Bruce said, "Oh boy... I'm backstage, I'm at the Gorilla position, Vince is also at the Gorilla position and there's a lot of what the hell just happened?" This was clearly in reference to the finish of the match that must have gone off the rails. "We're starting to have a discussion about what do we do? Do we have two winners? Do we just go with it and say both guys are winners and figure it out tomorrow on Raw? What the hell do we do? Next thing you know, Vince is calling for his music."

Vince made his way down to the ring that night, walking with a purpose and upon trying to get into the ring, tore one of his quadriceps muscles. Bruce explained, "He starts to get up and he can't get up. So, he's sitting in the middle of the ring as he's screaming for them to restart the match. But he can't stand up and he can't get in their face so he's doing it from a seated position... All he knows is that his leg is on fire."

The match went on, Batista won and things appeared to be back to normal, other than Vince having an injury. Vince makes his way back up the ramp by walking on his torn quad. He knew what was wrong. Prichard said everyone in Gorilla left Vince alone and cleared out because they know he's hurt and hurt badly.

Prichard said from the loading dock he could see hear that people were trying to help Vince — help he was refusing — and he started limping and Bruce said he heard the worst and loudest and earth-shattering yell as Vince has torn his other quad trying to walk on his own.

Bruce said he couldn't imagine tearing one quad and walking on it, but for Vince to tear both was absolute insanity.
