Vince McMahon's novel "wild card rule" has likely left plenty (if not all) WWE fans confused.

The chairman passed the law on Monday night's episode of Raw during what seemed to be a fit of hysteria. It appears that WWE's well aware of how confusing this must be, so they've since released an explanation.

Basically, superstars from Raw and SmackDown will be invited to cross brands on a given night but the switches must be authorized or else fines will be handed down. Getting fired is also a possibility if a wrestler makes an unsanctioned appearance.

No more than four superstars from one brand can jump over to the other on a particular night. An official statement can be read below.

"A limited number of Superstars from Raw or SmackDown would be invited to cross brand lines for one-night-only appearances, with unauthorized jumps to be penalized by fines or even potential firing."

"The number of crossover Superstars was initially capped at three - WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns started things off by appearing on Raw this Monday - though Lars Sullivan evidently persuaded The Chairman to expand the limit to four," WWE adds.

Vince's "epiphany" came about after Roman Reigns showed up on Raw to interrupt him, causing him to go berserk. An appearance from Daniel Bryan - and then Kofi Kingston - wouldn't put him in a better mood.

WWE fans are understandably confused by this and probably don't want it at all but WWE says that the "true impact" of the move will take a while to show.

"As always, it will take a while before the true impact of the “Wild Card Rule” is realized, but it’s sure to make things very, very interesting going forward," the statement claims. "See which new matchups will be made possible by the “Wild Card Rule” by tuning in to Raw and SmackDown LIVE, Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7 C on USA Network."

What This Means

So, in essence, any four stars could show up on whatever show they please. What then is the point of a Superstar Shakeup?

Who knows though? This could all be part of a storyline. One can only hope.
