It will surprise no one to hear that the Golden State Warriors are betting favorites to win their third straight NBA title this season. However, they are more than just favored to win. They are the odds-on favorites to win according to multiple sportsbooks.

According to ESPN, Westgate SuperBook and a bunch of other sportsbooks, laying down money on the Warriors to win the title will only get you one to two odds. Which means if you bet $200 you will only win $100. Sure, those are odds we see often on a favorite in a game, but not when it relates to the entire season and winning the title.

Think of it this way: one to two odds means the sportsbooks see the event as more likely to happen than not — which in a league with 29 other teams is kinda crazy. Although, given the Warrior's dominance over the last two seasons probably doesn't seem as crazy as it should.

And speaking of those last two seasons, the Warriors were odds-on favorites to win the title each of those seasons as well. So, they have done it three years in a row now. Not only that, but they are the only franchise in the league to be the odds-on preseason title favorites in the last 30 years!

While this is exciting for Warrior fans, this probably isn't something the NBA likes to hear. The league that has had to deal with criticism about the lack of parity among teams and the lack of importance in the regular season for years now. And it probably doesn't help having one team so heavily favored — and only two other teams with even somewhat respectable odds of winning the title (Westgate: Celtics +500, Rockets +600).

Although, people always like a good David & Goliath story so if one of those "other" teams could take down the mighty Warriors it sure would make for a huge story and excitement.

Yet even with those high-priced odds, there are still people betting on the Warriors — if only to make a little extra cash. A few weeks ago a bettor at the SuperBook put down $67,736.25 on the Warriors to make the playoffs. The odds for that bet were -10,000! Which means if Golden State does make the playoffs (hard to imagine any way they wouldn't) the bettor would make a whopping profit of $677.35!
