It appears the Wednesday night war might be over. Whether it has anything to do with ratings or the decision is related to other network commitments, it sounds like NXT will be moving nights and WWE and AEW will no longer have to compete for the same audience.

As per a report by the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, "hearing from a reliable source that NXT will be moving to Tuesdays starting 4/13." A few other media outlets have picked up the story and retweeted the report, but WWE has not officially made an announcement confirming or denying the rumors.

While the battle between AEW and NXT hasn't come close to being anything like the old battles between WWE and WCW, don't tell the members of either roster that. Both NXT talents and AEW talents have been keeping an eye on the ratings since AEW debuted on TNT and NXT popped up on the USA Network around the same time 17 months ago.

AEW has consistently outperformed NXT in terms of cable ratings and fans of the brand and AEW talent like Chris Jericho have been happy to draw attention to it. This move, if accurate will put NXT on their own night, while allowing both brands to focus on improving their own product.

Dave Meltzer reports of the rumored move: "This was definitely a topic of discussion in WWE quarters on 2/24, but at least at that point it was not final." If and when WWE announces the change, will be interesting to watch.

What Does This Mean For Impact Wrestling?

If it turns out that WWE moves NXT to Tuesday nights, this could be problematic for Impact Wrestling. They air their show on Tuesdays and they've recently started a cross promotion with AEW.

Meanwhile, can AEW hit 1 million viewers each week consistently? Most fans seem to think that unopposed to NXT, that shouldn't be much of a problem.
