Sasha Banks hasn't appeared on WWE television since WrestleMania 35, where her and Bayley dropped the Women's Tag Team Championships to The IIconics.
Banks was reportedly upset with the booking decision, believing her and Bayley should have had longer reigns with the new tag team titles. It got to the point where Banks apparently wanted to quit WWE altogether.
WWE granted Banks time off in order to reconsider her future with the company, and though she's been away for two months, there haven't been any indications that she's looking to depart.
The Legit Boss also turned heads when she changed her Instagram name to "Mercedes Varnado," Banks' real name. But Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com explained that this "is nothing more than her using it to differentiate herself from the persona she portrays on WWE TV." On top of that, Johnson said that the "indications are that" Banks will be coming back to WWE "when the time is right."
Fans have been anxiously awaiting Banks' return for a while now. There were rumors that she would make a return at the May 19 Money in the Bank pay-per-view, but that obviously never happened. Banks has been posting a handful of cryptic messages on social media, but otherwise, she's remained silent on where she stands with WWE at this time.
Banks, of course, isn't the only superstar that has recently grown unhappy in WWE. The Revival and Mike and Maria Kanellis reportedly asked to be released in January, while Luke Harper took to Twitter and recently said he wanted out. The Revival rejected massive contract extensions from WWE, while Maria hinted that her and Mike's contracts are up this month. But unlike the others, it seems like Banks will be sticking around in WWE.
What This Means
There have been numerous reports and rumors about Banks returning in the near future over the past month. There still aren't any indications on when she could return to WWE, so we'll just have to wait for it to happen. There's a good chance WWE won't announce it ahead of time, so Banks' return will likely come when we least expect it.
