The Undertaker's wife has revealed that there was only one WWE star the company wanted to break "The Streak" before Brock Lesnar did at WrestleMania. The performer given the honor had to essentially explain to WWE why they shouldn't let it happen.

During an interview with the New York Post, The Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool has revealed that Edge was pegged to break The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania 24. She went on to add that the “The Rated-R-Superstar” was the person who shot down the idea.

Saying he thought the decision was a huge mistake, McCool explains:

“I remember a few years prior at WrestleMania [24] versus Edge, they talked about Edge breaking the streak and it was Edge that was actually like ‘That makes zero sense. I don’t want to do that. Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What’s it going to do for Edge?’"

Interestingly, and despite other rumors that might be out there, McCool added that Edge was the only star WWE ever considered having beat The Undertaker and end the streak until Brock Lesnar's name came up and Taker agreed to do the job to The Beast Incarnate.

Imagine how different history would have been had WWE stuck with their original plan?

Her Thoughts On Lesnar Breaking The Streak

McCool said she found out about Lesnar going over the day of the event and said that while the Undertaker was totally cool with it, she couldn't believe it. "I don’t think it needed to happen,” she said. She added, "Mark [Calaway] was fine with it. People don’t understand he’s gonna do business. He understands that business is business.”

There will likely be more on the story as McCool shares her thoughts on The Undertaker's career in the upcoming five-part limited series “The Last Ride.” The first episode is set to premiere Sunday, immediately following Money in the Bank on WWE Network.
