With rumors that SmackDown Live might become the "A" show for WWE after a new deal with Fox is set to be announced, Tuesday's edition of the show proved the blue brand has the tools to make their show the top-rated show. It was better than its counterpart Raw was on Monday in almost every way.

Daniel Bryan and Jeff Hardy put on an exciting main event match for another crack at Money in the Bank, The Miz proved, once again, that he is gold on the mic after working with New Day who didn't want to make his job easy and Shinsuke Nakamura settled on his stipulation for his match against AJ Styles at WWE's next big pay-per-view.  In between all that, two more women qualified for their Money in the Bank ladder match.

Here are your winners and losers from SmackDown Live on May 22, 2018.

Winner: The Miz

The first segment of the show was a strong way to show off some of the brand's best mic workers. New Day and The Miz together was quite entertaining and the defiance of New Day with the need of The Miz to get the scoop turned into a solid match that saw The Miz come out on top.

The best part was, The Miz laid in some truth bombs about each member of New Day without making them look weak. It set the stage for some potential animosity down the road which could be quite interesting.

Winner: Lana

via wwe.com

It took less than five minutes for WWE to take advantage of a popular Rusev and Aiden English and to get the WWE Universe squarely behind Lana with chants of "Lana is the best, Lana's number one" and "Lana Day." Why not, right? They have a popular trend on their hands with Rusev Day and she's attached at his hip, why not milk this popularity for all its worth.

Lana isn't the best in-ring worker the company has, but that can be hidden behind this character idea and it's much more fitting for Lana than anything else she's tried in the last year. She seems to be comfortable as herself and that will be key to getting this over.

Props should go to Aiden English as well. He was instrumental in hitting this out of the park on the first attempt.

Loser: The Usos

via wwe.com

Once one of the top tag teams on SmackDown Live, it appears that maybe the numbers game and the sheer quantity of top-end talent is going to affect the standing of the Usos on the blue brand. It was nice to see Gallows and Anderson get a big win, but it was a surprise that it came at the expense of the Usos have been historically the much stronger team.

That said, there is a good chance these two teams see each other again and the Usos take a win. So, it's not as though WWE has just put Jimmy and Jey off to the side.

Winner: Andrade "Cien" Almas

via wwe.com

It's nice to see WWE harken back to the days when they took time to build a heel with decisive wins over no-name competitors. Almas is slowly building up and will eventually become a devastating heel in WWE when he starts to translate these short performances into longer matches where he can showcase his tremendous in-ring ability. There's no need to rush his five-star caliber matches yet. Let that come organically.

Loser: Sonya Deville

via wwe.com

So far, Deville's time on SmackDown Live has not been thrilling. She's strung together a few losses in a row now, that latest being a loss to Naomi who qualified for the Money in the Bank match on Tuesday. It's interesting that it appears WWE isn't taking the time to ensure the female MMA fighter on the roster is a strong competitor. Maybe they figure with Rousey, there's only room for one.

Winner: Daniel Bryan vs. Jeff Hardy

via wwe.com

Now, this is a main event. Bryan vs. Hardy was a great match, and while Strowman vs. Balor was good, there wasn't anything on the line there. This match offered a chance for someone to get back into the Money in the Bank match. Bryan capitalized.

This was Hardy's best match since returning to WWE, and now Bryan will face Samoa Joe next week in a match that everyone will be looking forward to. If Joe wins, it's another crushing loss for Bryan. If Bryan wins, he becomes the favorite in the match. Of course, let's not forget about Big Cass, who will likely show his face if he's not injured.
