As was the case at this time a year ago, there are ongoing questions about what The Undertaker's status will be as WrestleMania 35 nears.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Dominic DeAngelo of WrestleZone), that things are The Undertaker's current situation for WrestleMania is unplanned.

Meltzer added that The Deadman currently isn't featured on the main card for the big show, set to take place at MetLie Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Of course, plans can always get altered between now and Apr. 7. But with the card rapidly shaping up, it's hard to see where Undertaker will fit on the main card.

It's important to remember that this was the case with Undertaker last year as well. There had been speculation that he was going to face John Cena, but the match wasn't finalized until the actual day of WrestleMania 34. The 16-time World Champion kept teasing a match against the future Hall of Famer, but Undertaker didn't formally accept his challenge until the day of.

Since defeating Cena at WrestleMania 34, Undertaker has wrestled in a few bouts. He defeated Rusev in a Casket match at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but would lose a singles match to Triple H at Super Show-Down back in October. Weeks later, then teamed up with Kane to reunite the Brothers of Destruction alliance at Crown Jewel, where they lost to D-Generation X.

Undertaker hasn't hinted at retirement yet, and it's logical to believe that his final match would take place on the Grandest Stage of Them All. WWE still has two months to decide their plans for him as WrestleMania nears.

What This Means

Despite his age (53), and injury history (a concussion and hip replacement surgery), Undertaker remains in good enough shape to keep wrestling. But if he doesn't wind up fighting at WrestleMania, it's easy to believe that he's simply closing in on retirement.
