The Superstar who will grace the cover of the next installment of WWE 2K has been announced and it is WWE Champion, AJ Styles.

WWE video games have been part and parcel of the pro wrestling world for decades. From the crude arcade games of the 1980s to the SmackDown series of the early 2000s to the 2K franchise that lives today. Much like other sports games, a new WWE game is released each and every year so that the roster can be kept up to date and the gameplay can be constantly improved upon.

In the present day, the first thing that is normally announced about the upcoming installment of WWE 2K is who will grace the game's cover. That announcement normally reveals a little bit about what we can expect from the game. Last year it was Seth Rollins, and the entire campaign was based around The Architect "burning it down" as he attempted to overshadow stars from the past.

Rollins will not be donning the cover again this year though. It was officially revealed this week that none other than AJ Styles will be the Superstar gracing the cover of WWE 2K19. The Phenomenal One discussed the announcement on a conference call, as reported by Gamespot, and also revealed that he will be bringing his very own Million Dollar Challenge to the game.

"If you win the contest and beat me, AJ Styles, in WWE 2K19, you could win a million dollars," the WWE Champion explained. Fans will need to send in videos of themselves explaining why they deserve the chance to beat Styles, and also beat a new mode on the game that hasn't yet been announced. Four fans will face off in the semifinals and the eventual winner will get to take on Styles in person.

It's pretty amazing to think how far Styles has come since signing for WWE. It has been less than two and a half years since he made his debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble. He is now WWE Champion, for the second time, and has been selected to grace the cover of their latest video game. That's an honor reserved for the company's most valuable Superstars, and he is most definitely that.
