The release of WWE 2K19 is now only days away and aside from what we'll discover when we actually get to play it ourselves, we know just about everything that there is to know. All of the Superstars that will be included, the downloadable content that will be released in due course, and all of the new features this iteration will include. However, what about things that haven't been included that would greatly improve the game? We can think of quite a few things.

First of all let's address the elephant in the room, where oh where is Tomasso Ciampa? The man is NXT Champion yet he is not on WWE 2K19. There has been no explanation as to why either, and the tweet the champ sent out addressing it has since been deleted. He and Nikki Cross have been omitted this time around despite both being included on WWE 2K18, there has to be something more to it than the two of them simply missing out.

If there is a surprise NXT DLC to come it's hard to fathom who else other than Cross and Ciampa would be included. Almost everyone else currently at Full Sail has already been announced for the game. Well, our suggestion would be an NXT UK expansion pack. Yes, we know Ciampa isn't British, but neither is Toni Storm and she is a part of the division. Throw in the likes of Storm, Trent Seven, and Rhea Ripley along with the two missing NXT stars and we would be extremely happy.

From the present to the past now, and no matter how many wrestlers and arenas from throughout the years that WWE 2K adds to its itinerary, there will always be others that we can pick out that have been overlooked. It may be one that is overlooked by many fans, but personally, we want to see Gangrel on a modern day WWE game. Edge and Christian are staples of the games each year, naturally, so just imagine throwing the leader of The Brood in there and seeing the trio's iconic entrance with modern day graphics. Add the classic In Your House PPV set to the mix too and we would be twice as happy.

Normally, a big Superstar returning on a WWE game sparks a real-life return to WWE or vice versa. It happened with Kurt Angle, then Goldberg, and this time it's Rey Mysterio. The luchador is part of the pre-order package on WWE 2K19 and has just re-signed with WWE. However, the reinstatement of Hulk Hogan to WWE's Hall Of Fame cannot be ignored. The Hulkster has been left off of WWE's games for the past four years due to the broken relationship between the two parties. While it feels like his virtual return will be a much bigger deal than an extra, unannounced DLC, his nWo buddies are already on the game, and Hogan has been doing an awful lot of teasing regarding the faction recently.

WWE 2K DLC isn't all about Superstars though, and there are a couple of modes we're sure fans would love to see return. 2K's old offering used to feature a "Defeat The Streak" mode starring The Undertaker. Then Brock Lesnar came along and defeated it for real, ruining it for everyone. Perhaps 2K could revive it, maybe even giving fans the chance to relive Goldberg's legendary streak and give players the chance to end it. Or, if they want something more current, players could take control of Curt Hawkins in an attempt to end his ongoing losing streak.

The mode that fans clamor for most, however, is GM mode. During the SmackDown vs Raw era of games, the mode allowed players to take full control of one show, sign Superstars, and go head-to-head with the rival brand, or brands when ECW was also included. That mode has been missing from the games for a decade now, yet fans still long for it. It had a lot of faults when it was around before, perhaps if 2K gave it a shot they could whip it into shape and give WWE video game fans something they really want.

As with any sports game series, the annual releases are normally just a chance to tweak the graphics and update the teams and rosters. Yes, there will always be the odd new addition but for the most part, developers don't need to do that as they know the games will sell regardless. The gameplay trailers for WWE 2K19 do suggest that quite a bit has changed compared to last year's offering, let's just hope they surprise us with some of the above too.
