WWE may have painted themselves into a bit of a corner. With the news that Brock Lesnar may be headed back to UFC and not taking his role in WWE as seriously as the company might like, fans are both turning on the Universal Champion and WWE is promoting a main event match that includes a WWE Superstar who may not be a WWE Superstar shortly after WrestleMania 34 comes and goes.

In an effort to correct the potential problem, speculation is WWE has decided to downplay the match between Roman Reigns and Lesnar and remove it as the main event of this year's show. Instead, WWE may look to push the Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle versus Triple H and Stephanie McMahon match or AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura match as a replacement marquee bout.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is starting to think that Lesnar has decided to leave the company. There are some that feel he may sign a new WWE deal in the final hour but no one can be certain and while the company may continue to move forward as if he'll be a part of WrestleMania and the WWE, their take is that if he takes off they'd rather not make him as popular as possible before he leaves. That is one of the reasons why Vince McMahon has kept Lesnar off TV in recent weeks as the less talk about Lesnar, the better if he decides to bolt the company.

The idea here is that by blending him in the with middle part of the card and not focusing on him as the main event, if he does depart, the public won't see it as WWE losing their biggest name. There's a potential silver lining here if this does go down as the WWE thinks it might.

If there's one thing WWE fans don't love, it's cheering on WWE talents who are leaving for other places and "abandoning" the WWE audience. It's how the Goldberg versus Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania 20 became such a disaster. Over the past couple years, Reigns has been the subject of a mixed reaction by the WWE Universe and if Lesnar is on the way out, fans will surely get behind Reigns if only to show Lesnar they don't appreciate his decision. Whatever reason fans choose to support Reigns, the WWE will take it.
