WWE may soon be calling up more talent from NXT, and the name rumored to be atop Vince McMahon's wish list is Aleister Black.
Rumors of NXT Superstars being called up to the main roster is always a nervy time for fans of the black and yellow brand. That's because it really is a lottery as to whether they will be treated well and accpeted by fans on either Raw or SmackDown Live. Just because a performer has tremendous success at Full Sail doesn't necessarily mean they will be as good on Raw or SmackDown Live.
Take Bayley, for instance. We remember hearing that there was no way Vince McMahon could screw up the former NXT Women's Champion on numerous occasions. At Full Sail, when Bayley's music hit, the crowd would go nuts. Now, on Raw, you're lucky to see anyone cheering for her. How WWE wasted her talent, we will never know.
Well NXT fans, it's time to get nervous again. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Alesiter Black's main roster call-up appears to be imminent. "I keep hearing Aleister Black being considered for the main roster," Meltzer told listeners this week. Black's stay in NXT has been a relatively short one, but he has impressed during that time and has also held the brand's top prize.
Black possibly being called up isn't necessarily bad news. Fans tend to forget the NXT call-ups who have thrived on the main roster. The likes of Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. The only problem is there is no way of knowing which side of history a call-up will fall on until it's too late. Black is great in NXT, but will Mr. McMahon see his worth?
When it comes to Black's current role in NXT, there is already not a lot left for him to do. Since he was so well-known and experienced before he arrived at Full Sail, the man formerly known as Tommy End was shot straight to the top. He has held the NXT Title and had high profile matches with almost everyone. Perhaps by the time Royal Rumble rolls around, he will be calling Raw or SmackDown Live home.
