With Brock Lesnar looking to head back to UFC, it appears WWE is still figuring out what they want to do with the former Universal Champion’s Advocate, Paul Heyman.
It seems like there is still a bit of creative uncertainty regarding the talented talker, but according to Barn Burner Fired Up Podcast, Heyman might not be linked to just one name — he could manage a stable.
“Paul Heyman/Kevin Owens. There is still some talk going around when Paul Heyman does return he’ll have a stable. Maybe Ronda Rousey, maybe Kevin Owens, maybe some other guys,” says Joe Peisich of Barn Burner, “But there’s still some talk within the WWE of having Paul Heyman run a stable.”
It seems the names could just be speculation, but Heyman has been linked to both Rousey and Owens. Despite that, many have argued the latter doesn’t necessarily need help on the microphone as much as other members on the roster, but the pairing could conjure up memories of the ECW mastermind’s time with CM Punk. Rousey, on the other hand, would be perfect to pair up with the gifted talker. Despite being great in the ring, many have criticised the Raw Women’s champion ability to cut a mean promo, but considering how new she is to the world of professional wrestling, she’s caught on pretty quick.
Still, this is the first time Heyman’s name has been connected with a faction, but it wouldn’t be the first time he’s managed multiple stars at once. While the last time didn’t go so well, that was in 2012, and this is a whole new WWE. There’s something to be said about what the best use of Heyman would be, and a tag team like the Authors of Pain could use a manager to rekindle the spark they had with Paul Ellering in NXT.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see what WWE does with Heyman when the time comes. He knows how to sell a match and his involvement in any angle makes it feel that much more special. It will probably take some time to get used to seeing him alongside another wrestler not named Brock Lesnar, it will definitely be refreshing to see him do something new.
