The lawsuit of WWE doctor Chris Amann against CM Punk and Colt Cabana will be heading to trial very soon.

WWE doctor Chris Amann filed a lawsuit against both CM Punk and Colt Cabana after Punk appeared on Cabana's podcast in November 2014, claiming that Amann mistreated him for a back injury and a concussion.

There is now a new report out that states that the lawsuit against Punk and Cabana will be heading to trial soon, according to Wrestling Observer.

Of course, there is a possibility that both sides could settle out of court and avoid going to trial. Cabana recently stated on The LAW radio show last October that the legal fees were mounting. The last thing he needs is for this case to head to trial.

“The update is that it’s still going on, it’s costing me a lot of money, and that’s the extent that my lawyers will allow me to talk. So nothing breaking here, but just do know that it’s always on my mind, it’s always a very sad thing. And I’ve talked to other podcasters… it’s kind of changed the way that he’s worked and realizing that this is a reality that you can host a show and get sued for it.”

The 37 year-old Cabana started his wrestling career in 2002 with Ring of Honor and has also spent time with Wrestling Society X and WWE. After spending time on the indie circuit, he headed back to Ring of Honor. Cabana still runs his own weekly podcast, The Art of Wrestling.

When it comes to Punk, he's still trying to establish himself as a formidable mixed martial arts fighter as a part of the UFC. He currently has a 0-1 record after losing to Mickey Gall back in September of 2016.

UFC president Dana White is giving Punk another chance to prove himself on the big stage, with UFC 225 scheduled to go down on June 9th in Punk's home city of Chicago. Both the UFC and Punk can only hope that over the past two years he's matured and has improved enough to put up a good fight.

If the 39-year-old Punk is unable to establish himself as a respectable fighter within the UFC, we wonder if he would entertain the idea of returning to the sport of wrestling as well as WWE.

While Punk claimed that Amann mistreated him for a concussion and back injury, he's obviously healthy enough to compete in the UFC.

We understand why Amann is suing both Punk and Cabana, but are the legal fees really worth it for him to try and protect his name despite the fact that he still works for WWE?
