While WWE put forth a strong effort to be considered, for now, their bid to be considered an Emmy-worthy television program hasn't produced positive results.

A previous article by Forbes detailed an event WWE was hosting called "For Your Consideration" (FYC). The idea was to invite many of Hollywood's decision-makers to check out WWE's new line of programming, for WWE to show off their new upcoming tv deals and hopefully convince those in tv's inner circle WWE should be considered for an Emmy. The plan was widely viewed as a long-shot but as WWE continues to gain mainstream steam, it made sense to try.

WWE brought out their biggest stars including Ronda Rousey, Shawn Michales, Roman Reigns, New Day and John Cena plus executives like Stephanie McMahon, Triple, H and Vince McMahon all in an attempt to showcase their star power and make the literal red carpet event feel like an award show red carpet similar to an Emmy production.

The timing was also strategic in that WWE was planning all of this just prior to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ balloting those who would be nominated for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards.

WWE presented shows like Raw 25, the WWE 24: Empowered special on the Women’s Revolution and some Mixed Match Challenge episodes. And they succeeded in getting several shows on the preliminary ballots. Raw and Mixed Match Challenge were slotted for Best Structured Reality Program, Total Bellas and Total Divas for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, WrestleMania 34 for Outstanding Variety Special and WWE 24: Empowered and Andre the Giant for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

Unfortunately, it did not result in any actual nominations.

The good news is, with the steps WWE did take, it has to be considered a win that they are inching closer to the ultimate goal. It shouldn't be long before the company does get the type of official nomination they are looking for and, one day, perhaps an Emmy win.
