In the latest edition of the Hall of Fame Podcast, Booker T and Brad Gilmour talked about the COVID-19 pandemic and weighed in on the CM Punk and Brock Lesnar debate. Booker T believes Punk is a much more marketable wrestler than Lesnar.

“Punk’s style was always able to go out and adapt to working with a lot of these guys, a lot of flips you know, do a lot of crazy moves, crazy bumps, stuff off the top rope. Punk was always a guy that was in the conversation,” Booker said.

Booker T also thinks Punk would be able to relate to the new guys in AEW like MJF, Orange Cassidy, and Sammy Guevara since he comes from an independent wrestling background and has made a smooth transition to big promotions. He also suggests that Punk would fit in AEW much better than Lesnar.

Gilmour, however, believes that since Punk has been away from professional wrestling for a while, he might be less of an investment opportunity than Lesnar. In the end, both hosts agreed that money will talk when it comes to deciding the fate of the two wrestlers. They also concurred that if AEW contracts either wrestler, it will be a major blow to WWE.

In 2014, Punk’s exit from WWE was long and drawn out. After several notable absences, on July 15, the promotion moved the wrestler from the active roster to the alumni page without issuing a statement. That same day, Punk thanked his fans but made no mention of WWE. By the end of the month, the three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion said that he was "never ever" going to return to wrestling.

Lesnar’s decision to leave WWE, on the other hand, has come as a surprise to most fans. On January 26, Lesnar defeated the first thirteen competitors he faced at Royal Rumble before being eliminated by Drew McIntyre. At Super ShowDown on February 27, he defeated Ricochet in ninety-four seconds to retain the championship. His fifth WWE Championship reign was ended by Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 on April 5. Since then, the wrestler has been MIA but is believed to no longer be signed to WWE.
