Back in January, the WWE confirmed reports that Dean Ambrose would be leaving the company when his contract expired after WrestleMania 35, but might there be a change of heart from the WWE Champion?

WrestlingInc.com reported Thursday that WWE was advertising Ambrose for shows in May, including their upcoming European tour. That would seemingly hint that his contract was either extended a bit longer, or that Ambrose is planning to stick around after all.

Interestingly, WWE removed the advertisements of Ambrose after WrestlingInc.com published that story. That could mean that WWE made a mistake in advertising Ambrose, and that he's planning to leave for good. It could also mean that Ambrose is staying after all, and that WWE didn't mean to give it away.

Read into this as you want, but Ambrose fans have a reason to be excited now. Perhaps the return of Roman Reigns convinced Ambrose to stay in the WWE, especially with the possibility of a Shield reunion in play.

It was reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com that Ambrose rejected a five-year deal from the WWE, which would have paid him seven figures annually. Pro Wrestling Torch was first to report the news that Ambrose was set to leave WWE, with one superstar saying "The Lunatic" grew tired of portraying a "hokey" character.

Of course, there have also been rumors that Ambrose could join All Elite Wrestling. The new promotion has already added the likes of Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, and they'll certainly be in pursuit of other WWE talents. Whether or not Ambrose stays in the WWE or heads to a rival company remains to be seen, but it's certainly interesting that he was briefly advertised for events in May.

What This Means

Well, it certainly provides Ambrose fans a glimmer of hope that he's changed his mind and will end up sticking around in WWE. Otherwise, the company simply made quite the mistake in wrongfully advertising him - and getting our hopes up for no good reason. This will be a fun situation to monitor closely as WrestleMania 35 nears.
