There's some speculation WWE, specifically the Raw brand might be interested in reforming (in a way) the Nation of Domination faction of over two decades ago. Moreover, Ron Simmons appearance this past Monday on the program might have been the hint that gave WWE potential plans away.

With MVP recently saying he was interested in creating a faction in WWE, then quickly adding Shelton Benjamin to his stable, there's speculation more names will be joining soon. Already consisting of Lashley, the United States Champion (MVP) and the new 24/7 Champion (Benjamin), could WWE be heavily pushing a new group, one that echos back to a stable led by Ron Simmons (Farooq)? It can't be a coincidence that Simmons showed up just as the group was beginning to come into form.

All the components are in place and while the "Hurt Business" name has been thrown around to suggest the stable won't be an exact copy of the Nation of Domination of old, there are some similarities.

First, the old NoD consisted of all African American superstars like Ron Simmons, The Godfather, D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry and a young Rocky Maivia. This group MVP is forming seems to be targeting African American wrestlers as well. Simmons was the older leader on his way out, but he recruited a heavy (Henry/Godfather) and a good worker (D'Lo/Shelton). This group has MVP on the back-nine of his wrestling career, the heavy in Lashley and the worker in Benjamin.

All this new group needs is a star (the next Rock). Do Apollo Crews, Ricochet, or Cedric Alexander have that quality? It's probably not fair to compare anyone to the most electrifying man in sports entertainment, but someone has to be a breakout star.

With news too that MVP is working on a contract extension, perhaps WWE has finally decided to move ahead.

The Group Would Need To Tread Cautiously

One of the issues potentially holding back the idea of rebirth is the current Black Lives Matter Movement. Today's social and political climate might be too touchy to write storylines about and this might not be the best time to steer the group in that direction.

That said, if the group took a positive approach, WWE could receive praise for addressing real life issues in a meaningful way. If they didn't, one wrong step or insensitive storyline could see WWE in the middle of a public relations nightmare.
