Ask even the casual wrestling fan to name a wrestler outside the WWE the company should bring in and many of them will give you the names Kenny Omega or The Young Bucks. Why? Because even casual fans who don’t watch much wrestling outside what Vince McMahon is offering have likely heard their names. These are independent wrestlers who have made so much noise being successful as pro wrestlers without WWE, they’ve earned respect across the industry. Even WWE appears ready to finally admit it’s time to talk bringing them in.

A report by Bryan Alvarez is suggesting with the WWE’s newfound tv money from their huge Fox and NBCUniversal deals, they intend to buy up some of the wrestling talents holding out. Omega and The Young Bucks top that list.

Alvarez said, “A lot of this depends on how much Kenny Omega is committed to. Is he committed to stay through the Tokyo Dome and that’s it? He’ll entertain offers from WWE which will have so much money that he’ll go… listen I don’t know they’re going to offer the guy but I would be very very surprised if they didn’t offer enormous deals to Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.”

Both Omega and The Bucks have said they have no desire to come to WWE right now. Both are making great money, setting their own schedules and have creative control over their characters. What Alvarez is saying is that WWE is going to offer the kind of money to get them to overlook all that and join the company anyway. The idea here is that money will talk and WWE intends to test that theory.

The challenge may be especially interesting when it comes to Omega who has been critical of WWE programming and the way they book their matches. He believes that while he’s the best in the world, WWE’s format won’t allow him to show it. As such, he's taken shots at the company in the past and would be viewed as potentially "selling out" should he change his tune.

If this is all true, the question will be how much money it will take for some of the most vocal and distant outsiders in wrestling to forget they have principles and take the money. Not only that, but there would be a large contingent of fans hoping they don't come to WWE and have their legacies as some of the best on the indie scene tarnished.

This is all assuming New Japan Pro Wrestling doesn't match any offer. They too have deep pockets and won't likely let their big names go without a fight.
