WWE has reportedly canceled its return to hosting live events outside of the Performance Center. The promotion had eyes on a July date but it appears the wait will be longer.

Shows for a paying audience were set for Lakeland, Florida on July 24 and July 27, at least that was the idea. However, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the dates have been canceled due to a spike in coronavirus cases across the U.S, especially in Florida.

“So the dates July 24th and 27th were canceled officially by WWE," Meltzer said. 'The people who were gonna work those shows got the word later in the afternoon. If they get delayed - nobody knows that’s going on. Everything’s spiked again, it’s quite sad, it’s quite sad. That’s all I can say.”

A few positive cases have been confirmed within WWE while rumors suggest over 30 employees have received positive tests. Renee Young has personally confirmed such but it's reported that WWE is against staff making their positive results public knowledge.

Vince McMahon May Have Taken The Wrong Approach

It's said that Vince McMahon is not taking the pandemic seriously and has rebuffed suggestions to cease taping while COVID-19 continues to be a problem.

As for the live events, we can't be sure when WWE will attempt another go. As mentioned above, cases have spiked in Florida as the state, like many others, loosened regulations a bit too soon.
