Finn Balor has apparently requested for some time off from WWE, and that time off will begin immediately after SummerSlam.

The path of Finn Balor has been a frustrating one for fans, so we can't even imagine how he must be feeling. It is pretty much three years to the day since the Irishman debuted on the main roster. That night on Raw, he won two matches, one of which was against Roman Reigns, and booked his spot in the main event of SummerSlam.

Balor would go on to win that main event and become WWE's first-ever Universal Champion. However, an injury suffered during that match would require Balor to relinquish the title and disappear for nine months. Since his return in 2017, Balor hasn't really even come close to reasserting himself as the top guy he was when he first arrived on Raw.

So it makes sense why he would want some time off. There are numerous reports circulating that Balor has asked for two months off, and that WWE has uncharacteristically granted him that sabbatical. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that time off will start immediately after SummerSlam. At the August PPV, Balor will have the honor of being the first Superstar to take on Bray Wyatt's alter ego, The Fiend.

When the match was first confirmed on this week's SmackDown, our fantasy booking cogs started to turn. We began to wonder whether we might see The Demon show up. Now we're assuming that won't be the case. Not at first anyway. If Balor really is going to be taking a break after SummerSlam, it makes perfect sense for him to lose against Wyatt, thus giving The Fiend the perfect start to his in-ring career.

Plus, if Vince McMahon isn't too peeved by Balor wanting to have some time off, it sets up the perfect return for him in a few months time. After defeating Balor, Wyatt's Fiend can go on a reign of terror over the WWE roster. Just when it looks as if he can't be stopped, Balor returns. However, this time, he is The Demon. Our vote for the best place The Demon could pop back up? How about the debut episode of SmackDown on Fox?
