WWE offered The Revival massive five-year contract extensions several weeks ago, but the former Raw Tag Team Champions reportedly turned them down.

However, Vince McMahon and WWE officials don't seem ready to give up on retaining the duo just yet. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), WWE has a plan in place to keep them around.

Meltzer started out by saying WWE handed Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson the championships in hopes of keeping them. When they rejected the contract offer, WWE went about booking them for embarrassing segments. Here's what else Meltzer had to say on the matter:

"Alright so now we’re gonna humiliate you we’re gonna treat you like dirt. They still didn’t sign so now they’re back to — I mean they made them look really good. Who knows?

I’m sure they don’t wanna lose them and I think that’s the key, but it is surprising because a lot of the guys who want out are either being buried or not used, but these guys are going from the depths to the penthouse."

Vince has made it clear that he's not going to let go of his disgruntled superstars, obviously fearing that they'll jump over to the AEW promotion. The Revival reportedly asked to be released in January - along with Mike and Maria Kanellis. Their requests were not granted, although Maria did hint that their contracts are running up later this month.

On top of that, Luke Harper recently took to Twitter and revealed that he asked WWE to release them, but they haven't granted him that. On top of that, Sasha Banks hasn't appeared since WrestleMania 35 - having grown unhappy about her and Bayley losing the Women's Tag Team Championships to The IIconics. It's unknown if she'll return to the company any time soon, but it's highly unlikely WWE will grant her a release.

WWE already saw former major talents like Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley) and Chris Jericho sign with AEW. If The Revival decides to leave WWE, you can bet AEW will be pushing hard for them. It's going to be interesting to see how WWE goes about trying to convince these guys to stay, even though they've made it clear multiple times they want to leave.

What This Means

WWE's tag team division has been fairly weak for a while, so losing The Revival would obviously be a huge blow. Obviously, money doesn't mean everything to Dawson and Wilder. Opportunities do. And if they think a better opportunity awaits outside of WWE, then there's nothing Vince and his officials can do.
