The process of WWE giving particular storylines a lot of air time only to unceremoniously drop them, or forget about them, without any resolution or apparent reason is one that any fan of the company will be all too familiar with.

And now it seems that one of the most frustrating things WWE can do as a company has reared its ugly head again as Seth Rollins' return to Friday nights has highlighted they have no intention of continuing one of the longest-running storylines that involved him up until his absence (for Paternity leave)

Before he left Rollins was having issues with his disciple Buddy Murphy, as Murphy was finding himself siding with the Mysterio family in the ongoing feud between the 'Messiah' Rollins and Rey Mysterio and clan. This culminated in Murphy defeating Rollins on the November 20th episode of SmackDown just before Rollins' would take his break.

However, when Rollins returned and delivered an address to the SmackDown roster, Buddy Murphy was one of the wrestlers who was ringside for it and there was no mention of his past allegiance and differences with Rollins.

We had already previously gathered that the often considered controversial relationship storyline between Buddy Murphy and Rey Mysterio's daughter Aalyah had been dropped with Dave Meltzer reporting that the 'angle was simply dropped. He said that there is no backstory or behind-the-scenes reason and it simply looks like they had no idea what to do next and they simply dropped the story.' (h/t wrestlingnews.co)

But we did assume that the disciple Murphy turning in his master Rollins might be a storyline that continued once Rollins returned, but evidently not! Dominik and Rey Mysterio were also ringside for Rollins' return segment and there was no interaction there either.

Many will feel that the Rollins and Mysterio rivalry was dragging on a little bit anyway, especially after the 'Eye For An Eye Match' happened so they'll be glad to see the back of it and see Rollins doing something new!
