This week's Raw was all about qualifiers for Money in the Bank. Three upset wins put some deserving stars in the ladder match and offers them an opportunity for them to compete for a guaranteed shot at the WWE Champion. Every match was strong and the losers will get a shot to make good next week, so all is not lost.

The rest of Raw was strong as well. Nikki Cross has a new gimmick, Piper Niven got a new name and Xavier Woods came up short in a cell match with Bobby Lashley. The close set up a new challenger with a beef for the WWE Champion.

Here are your winner and losers for Monday Night Raw: June 21, 2021:

Winner: Opening Sets Up Lashley vs. Woods In A Cell

This week’s Raw opened with an episode of the VIP Lounge and MVP and Bobby Lashley bragged that Drew McIntyre wasn’t able to beat him and is never allowed to challenge for the WWE Championship again. It was time to celebrate and throw a party after toasting the Almighty Champion. Their moment was interrupted by The New Day.

New Day brought out literal toast and threw it into the ring. MVP called Kofi Kingston a clown goofing with his court jester of a friend in Xavier Woods. Lashley claimed he’d never lose the title and that Kofi should know his place in the hierarchy of the Raw brand. Kofi showed footage of him pinning Lashley and then challenged Lashley for a match at Money in the Bank. Lashley accepted and said he wanted a match with Woods.

Woods was happy enough to point out that he’s been underrated for too long and would love to put an a— whoopin’ on the champ, he just wanted it inside the cell. Again, Lashley accepted.

This was a great way to set up Raw’s main event and if it’s and example of Vince McMahon’s mandate that creative eliminate “cold matches”, this is a great start.

Winner: King Of The Ring Qualifier Between Styles and Ricochet

Ricochet picks up a huge win over AJ Styles after The Viking Raiders came to the ring and offered a distraction. Earlier words backstage between the two teams led to them coming down for a little revenge. With Omos out, it was enough to open the door for The One and Only to get the win and move on to Money in the Bank.

This was decent match between two stars that should have a great technical battle, but the creative actually makes sense here. Omos and Styles got there’s after insulting the Raiders, it sets up a future tag team rivalry and Ricochet gets a bump up the ladder. Good spot for all parties and Styles taking a loss in this manner won’t hurt him.

Winner/Loser: Eva Marie Names Her Protege “Doudrop”

Piper Niven is no longer going to be known as Piper Niven. For the time being, she’ll be hesitantly going by the name Doudrop.

Prior to their MITB women’s qualifying match, Doudrop was about to share who she was with the WWE Universe and Marie cut her off. She’ll be going by the name Doudrop and she didn’t seem all that happy about it.

The good news here is that the name Piper Niven will probably return. This doesn’t feel like a long-term relationship, with Niven probably going the babyface route. Hopefully it’s short lived.

Winner: John Morrison

Getting a good chance to show fans shouldn’t forget about him, Johnny Drip Drip got a chance to wrestle against a fresh face and a top star in Randy Orton in the second men’s MITB qualifier. He win via distraction, but Morrison got a clean pin. A low-speed chase between a scooter and a wheelchair helped out the underdog.

This is the second upset in the qualifying matches, but it puts two awesome wrestlers in the ladder match. Again, more interesting creative as Orton is sure to be upset with Riddle for coming down and goofing around.

Winner/Loser: Nikki Cross New Persona

Well, it seems like we have an answer as to why Nikki Cross was being thrown into the beat-the-clock challenges; the idea was to build towards her character change on Monday night. She’s still going to be known as Nikki Cross but she certainly doesn’t look the same.

If we look at the history of superhero gimmicks, The Hurricane or Molly Holly tells us this could be great. It could also be a mess. I guess we’ll find out.

Reginald got distracted by Bliss again and almost slapped Nia Jax. The confusion was enough for Cross to get Shayna Baszler caught in a roll up for the win. Cross in the MITB ladder match could be hilarious.

Winner: Defining Moment For Riddle

One night after Drew McIntyre went through hell, he wrestled in a Money in the Bank qualifier. It was a banger of a match. This may have been a defining moment for Riddle who has been having great matches but had maybe his best against a main-event star. Could we see the two men switching places in the pecking order for WWE for a while?

Even better, Riddle immediately rushed to the onlooking Orton who was not at all pleased that Riddle qualified while The King Bros for Money in the Bank.

This was the third upset of the night in the qualifying bouts. Could Xavier Woods follow the trend and upset another heavy favourite? Or, would he be the only one to fall short?

The three losses set up a massive Triple Threat second-chance match for next week.

Winner: Xavier Woods vs. Bobby Lashley

Another strong match in a night of good matches, the main event was made to set up Lashley's next feud. Woods wanted to prove he could stand toe-to-toe with the champ, and for a while, he did. Ultimately, Lashley was just too strong and he ended up winning with a Hurt Lock.

But, as the episode closed, MVP locked himself, Woods and Lashley in the cell and Lashley reapplied the Hurt Lock and wouldn't let it go. He dragged the lifeless Woods over to the side of the cage and forced Kofi Kingston to watch on. Obviously, Kingston now has a pretty good reason to go after the champion.

This was a strong episode of Raw. One of the best in a while.
