The wrestling world is reacting to what was a pretty shocking batch of released Superstars on Wednesday afternoon.

WWE released ten Superstars earlier this year, and then more names followed those ten out the door when NXT did the same thing. The first batch of releases happened exactly one year after more than 40 people were let go last year, so it was assumed by most that the cuts would be over for a while. As today has proved, that was definitely not the case, not by a long shot.

Out Of Left Field

WWE released six more Superstars earlier today, some of which took pretty much everyone completely by surprise. Even the Superstars themselves, as was demonstrated by Aleister Black who was one of the six to be let go. "This was a complete left field for me as obviously we just started the dark father character," Black tweeted after the news broke.

The other five Superstars released today were Braun Strowman, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, and Lana. Naomi, who has been tagging with Lana as of late, tweeted a number of photos showing them together, letting The Ravishing Russian know they'll be friends no matter what. However, Lana's husband Miro's reaction might be the best tweet of all thus far. "You can’t soar with the eagles if you’re hanging with the turkeys," the AEW star tweeted.

Somebody Hire Heidi Lovelace

Riott's longtime tag team partner Liv Morgan, who remains under contract, has also shared her thoughts on Twitter. "Whoever is lucky enough to get Heidi Lovelace on their roster, you win," Morgan tweeted. In case you didn't know, Heidi Lovelace is the name Riott used before signing with WWE, and the one she will likely return to should she choose to wrestle elsewhere.

The tributes and well wishes to the released stars keep on coming and will continue to do so over the coming hours and days. Mia Yim admitted the release of Riott really hurts, and Strowman has thanked fans for their support while he was with the company. Next comes speculation on where the released stars might end up next. All Out is in 95 days. Had WWE realized that before today, it might have held off on the releases for another week.
