WWE has released multiple main roster stars exactly one year on from letting go of more than 40 employees all in one go.

There used to be a time in the fall when WWE would release a number of Superstars all in one go. Almost as if it had the day marked down on the calendar. That day still exists, but it appears to have shifted to April. Last year, WWE released 40 employees all in one go. That number isn't as high this year, at least not yet, but a year to the day, WWE has once again released a number of its active Superstars from their contracts.

Nine Superstars have been released so far, however, the list continues to grow as the day goes on. Perhaps the most surprising name on the list is Samoa Joe. Joe was working on commentary up until this past weekend, but was absent on Raw after the announce team underwent a reshuffle. The full list of released stars can be found below.

Billie Kay also comes as a shock. Not only has the former Iiconic been getting a lot of screen time lately, but she competed on this past weekend's WrestleMania card. Her comedy segments have been one of SmackDown's highlights recently. The two of them being let go proves that WWE had no plan beyond breaking them up last year.

Chelsea Green also appeared to be readying herself for something new. Injuries may well have derailed whatever that could have been, though. Seconds into her SmackDown debut last year, Green broke her wrist and was sidelined for months. She had recently been pushing for an angle with Mickie James who has also been let go.

And the names keep on coming. Joe, Royce, and Bo Dallas were added to this article after it was already in the process of being written. There are also reports John Laurinaitis is the one making the calls and has reportedly been citing budget cuts as the reason for WWE letting people go. If that and last year are anything to go by, the list will continue to grow in the coming hours and maybe even days.
