WWE Crown Jewel might still be going ahead, but there are now even more signs that it won't be taking place in Saudi Arabia.

WWE's deal with the Saudi Sports Authority has been marred in controversy since day one. Vince McMahon has struck up a deal with the country to take his Superstars there twice a year for the next ten years. Fans weren't so psyched about that prospect when they discovered that due to certain Saudi Arabian laws, female performers would not be allowed on the shows, at least not right now.

Saudi show number two is set to take place on November 2, 2018, and with it comes even more controversy. A Washington Post journalist named Jamal Khashoggi has gone missing in the Middle Eastern country, and it's assumed that he has been killed. As tensions grow between Saudi Arabia and the US, politicians are urging WWE to cancel Crown Jewel.

It's not like WWE to bow to public pressure very often, but in this case, it might have no choice. According to a little research done by Ringside News, any mention of Saudi Arabia has been scrubbed from WWE's YouTube and social media accounts. If you search Saudi Arabia on WWE's YouTube right now, the only videos that pop up are ones from the Greatest Royal Rumble event earlier this year.

That would suggest WWE is possibly planning to move the event to somewhere outside of Saudi Arabia. Easier said than done for a number of reasons. For starters, many big stars are appearing on the show due to the vast amounts of Saudi money they have been paid. If the show isn't taking place in Riyadh, then presumably that already spent money won't be coming.

As of right now, WWE not mentioning Saudi Arabia might simply be a way to defer attention. Mr. McMahon is often rumored to not think much of fans' intellect and memory. Perhaps he thinks if he doesn't mention Saudi Arabia, we'll forget where Crown Jewel is taking place. That's obviously not going to happen, and it is fast approaching a point of no return when WWE is either going to have to push forward with its current plan or change the location entirely.
