Despite what WWE would have made you think when Roman Reigns defeated him at WrestleMania 33, The Undertaker just might have a little gas left in his tank.
Rumors are heating up regarding a potential Undertaker match at WrestleMania 34 on April 8, 2017, and with his participation in Monday Night Raw’s 25th-anniversary episode, next month confirmed, we should know more by then about his future with the WWE. Based on recent rumors, that future might include a match against John Cena at ‘Mania, but a new report suggests that WWE has a few other ideas ahead of next year’s edition of the Show of Shows.
According to a subscriber-only report from Wrestling News World, Vince McMahon is confident that The Undertaker will be competing at WrestleMania 34, despite what appeared to be his ostensible retirement at WrestleMania 33 earlier this year. This isn’t an absolute certainty at this point, as McMahon is reportedly waiting for the Deadman to provide a “definitive” answer before next month’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. As such, an announcement at Raw’s 25th-anniversary show is a possibility at this point.

As previously reported, The Undertaker is a possibility as John Cena’s WrestleMania opponent next year, which should allow WWE fans to see a match that was heavily rumored ahead of WrestleMania 33, only for plans to change in the more immediate run-up to the event. But Wrestling News World notes that there are some other possibilities up in the air, including a possible Brothers of Destruction reunion alongside Kane. As both kayfabe brothers are in their fifties, such a match would allow The Undertaker to be less active in the ring, considering his recent injury history.
Braun Strowman was mentioned as another option, and like the Cena match, Undertaker vs. Strowman was frequently mentioned in the rumor mill ahead of WrestleMania 33. This is a match that would pit arguably WWE’s greatest big men of all-time against the company’s top big man of the present and a rising star in his own right.
Given this report and several others from recent weeks, the chances of The Undertaker not being retired after all have been rising exponentially. At 52-years-old, Undertaker has clearly seen better days in his wrestling career, and that means fans should not expect a five-star classic. But if he's really wrestling one final match at WrestleMania 34, just as reports are suggesting, that match will likely make for an emotional farewell and one that won't come with any acrimony against the guy (presumably) defeating the Deadman, just like what happened when Reigns beat Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.
