There's a reported rumor that WWE, namely Triple H offered a big incentive to The Young Bucks if they would have signed with the company before choosing to co-found AEW. That incentive was a storyline that included the Young Bucks invading WWE and the rest of the roster.

Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio stated that WWE pitched the idea that The Bucks lead an "invasion angle" heading towards WrestleMania 35. This would have also meant that Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and "Hangman" Adam Page would have eventually joined The Young Bucks, even though that rumor has not been confirmed. The Bucks instead chose to side with Tony Khan and back All Elite Wrestling in a move that upon first glance appears to be the right decision.

It is also rumored the Young Bucks offer would have included a three-year guarantee and the same amount of money that AJ Styles is making. The duo would have also been given an exclusive show on WWE Network called Being The Elite series. If at any time in the first six months the Young Bucks were unhappy, the deal also included an out clause. Despite all that on the table, they bet on themselves and the success they believed they could have with AEW.

When asked about how close they'd come to signing when interviewed by Chuck Carroll of CBS Sports earlier this year, Nick Jackson said, "Yeah, we could say that their offer was very aggressive." Matt Jackson added, "I'll tell you this. For a moment, I thought that we would probably be going to WWE. That was the closest that it's ever come to us going there, for sure. And they were great. They were respectful, and they told us what our value was."

What This Means

If the details of the offer are accurate, it lends to the idea that WWE either really wanted the Young Bucks and their AEW partners or Triple H was concerned about the competition AEW might provide. Had WWE signed the Bucks, it's fairly obvious there likely wouldn't have been an AEW.
