While the Elimination Chamber is over and done with and Fastlane is in the back of the minds of many fans, what's really going on right now in WWE is meant to gear the WWE Universe toward WrestleMania 34. Most of the news, speculation, and rumors that pertain to WWE Superstars present and future pertain to that specific event.

And, with that in mind, it was an interesting week if you're a WWE fan. From John Cena not knowing what his role will be at WrestleMania (if he even gets a match) to changing the main event with Lesnar potentially leaving for UFC, there is a lot to discuss.

What is going to the main event at this year's WrestleMania? Will Rey Mysterio be there? Will WWE introduce Cruiserweight Tag belts immediately following the biggest event of the year?

There are so many topics to cover that we can't possibly hit them by listing only five, but we'll do our best. Here are five of the biggest rumors this week in WWE.

Rousey and Co. May Main Event

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is thinking of downplaying Brock Lesnar's role in WrestleMania 34 because they believe he may have made up his mind and plans to leave WWE for the UFC. If that happens, WWE doesn't want to be seen as publicly losing their biggest draw so they'll push him down the card and find another match to main event the biggest card of 2018.

The end result might be that Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H could get the main event spot over Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns. There is some concern that Lesnar may not even be prepared to work the show and WWE is holding back some of the company's big names to fill in should that happen. This could be why Braun Strowman and John Cena don't have advertised opponents yet.

Hardy vs Wyatt Not A WrestleMania Match

via wrestlingnews.co

While the early indication was Matt Hardy versus Bray Wyatt would be taking place at WrestleMania 34 in a unique “Ultimate Deletion” match, that may not be the case. WWE has already shot the match and is likely going to air it on an episode of Raw according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.  The compound match was apparently filmed in Cameron, North Carolina the other day with new hiree Jeremy Borash there to run things and work on the production of it with everyone.

It would be a shame if WWE didn't give this the time and presentation it deserves but it could be that this match; if it gets traction on Raw, could be revisited for WrestleMania.

Mysterio's Injury Not Changing Negotiations

Rey Mysterio’s arm injury is not believed to be a complete biceps tear and as such it likely isn't going to hurt his chances of coming aboard with WWE. Mysterio was negotiating the terms of his return when he was working independent shows and injured his arm. There was some concern that his injury was serious and could keep him out for months. That would have almost destroyed any real chance of a return.

Instead, it looks like a minor tear and there is speculation that he could still work as early as WrestleMania 34 if things continue to look up. The WWE may choose to hold off his return until after the pay-per-view but Mysterio is game to do whatever WWE feels make the most sense.

Cena May Not Have A Match At WrestleMania

via wwe.com

John Cena recently was part of an interview with Sports Illustrated and while promoting his new role in the animated Nickelodeon series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he discussed plans for him at this year's WrestleMania.

Cena teased the idea that the WWE may not put him in a match and instead have him lose at Fastlane and only get to WrestleMania by purchasing a ticket. He thought the idea of WWE's biggest name over the past decade not having a role in the biggest show of the year was an interesting concept. The question people would be asking is what he might do in the crowd while contemplating his future?  Rumors are he'll already be taking time off after WrestleMania to focus on his movie and television projects. This storyline may be a way to write him off of WWE programming for a while.

Cruiserweight Tag Belts

Twitter user BeltFanDan shared a design for the rumored WWE Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles which have been rumored for the Cruiserweight Division. As WWE tries to revamp 205 Live and the Cruiserweights, they have already focused on more wrestling than character development. Those behind the scenes believe tag titles in the division may help promote the high-flying and technical wrestling ability of some of their smaller guys.
