After two straight years of competing in the Mae Young Classic, former Impact Knockouts Champion Mia Yim has signed with WWE.

The tournaments that Triple H has been putting together in WWE for the past couple of years are for more than just our entertainment. Pulling in cruiserweights, British stars, and women from all around the wrestling industry to perform under the WWE banner without actually signing them to contracts is the perfect way to see if it's worth making them a permanent member of the team.

Off the back of these tournaments, WWE has signed enough cruiserweights to create a brand new show in 205 Live, enough UK talent for NXT to have its own British branch, and a number of women following the first Mae Young Classic. Shayna Baszler earned herself a WWE contract after making it all the way to the final and the careers of Dakota Kai, Bianca Belair, and others were greatly boosted.

Fans were pretty surprised that WWE didn't attempt to lock down the services of Mia Yim after the first Mae Young Classic. In Yim's two matches, a win over Sarah Logan and a loss to Baszler, she really impressed. So much so that she has been asked back once again for this year's tournament, making it past the first round for a second time by defeating Allysin Kay.

This time around, WWE has not let Yim slip through its fingers. PWInsider has confirmed that Yim now has a WWE contract, and has officially been an NXT Superstar since September 16, 2018. There was speculation that the former Impact Knockouts Champion had signed after she was filmed in NXT's Performance Center and the video was posted on the brand's Twitter account.

There will be a lot of familiar faces at Full Sail for Yim. The Mae Young Classic competitor recently revealed that not only is she dating NXT Superstar Keith Lee, but she is also roommates with MMA stars turned wrestlers Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. The horsewomen are probably already benefitting greatly from living with Yim considering she has already been wrestling for nine years.
