WWE will bring the Slammy Awards back before the end of the year, according to a tweet noting upcoming events set to air on the Network this month.

The company hasn't given out Slammy Awards since 2015, when the likes of Seth Rollins, Neville and Sting were handed the Superstar of the Year, Breakout Star of the Year, and Surprise Return of the Year awards, respectively.

The Slammy Awards became a thing in 1986 and was supposed to be a Grammy Awards spoof; the inaugural event saw WWF stars who performed on The Wrestling Album awarded. Cyndi Lauper was named the  Best Producer. Gene Okerlund also beat Vince McMahon out to win the Best Commentator award while Nikolai Volkoff won the Most Ignominious award - he had no choice as the only nominee.

The 1997 Slammy Awards ceremony is considered the best one, with Owen Hart winning an award for the Best Bow Tie. The Rock, Rocky Maivia then, won the award for the Best New Sensation but his initial gimmick would see him receive a lot of stick and he reckons he would have been buried completely had he not improv'd it on the mic after it was decided he would go heel.

The Undertaker, now retired, was deemed to have the best tattoo, beating Shawn Michaels, Tommy Lee, Drew Barrymore, and Crush.

The Slammys found itself on a list of upcoming Network content, which you could see below.

The December lineup also features a Broken Skull Sessions with Drew McIntyre, a 10 Best Matches of 2020 and, of course, TLC.

A Few Of Our Awards

The Slammy Awards should intrigue, especially since it hasn't been happening for years. It will be interesting to see who wins what. We're going with Jey Uso for the Breakout (Singles) Star of the Year.

We're also hoping to see a Breakup of the Year Award go to the New Day. And how about Alexa Bliss for Best Supporting Actress?
