If the opening segment of Monday Night Raw was any indication of what fans can expect with Paul Heyman now in charge, things got interesting.

Bobby Lashley vs Braun Strowman in a Falls Count Anywhere match opened Raw on Monday night. It didn't take long for the two competitors to work their way around the arena, eventually up to the stage where the unthinkable happened.

Strowman charged at Lashley and speared him through the staging backdrop, into a variety of cable boxes, wires and WWE stage equipment. Without missing a beat, the stage exploded and sparks flew as the two men lay motionless. Corey Graves yelled out a "Holy s-it" and the show immediately stopped.

EMTs and staff were working so long, WWE cut to commercial coming back to a very somber WWE announce crew who updated fans. Strowman and Lashley were reported to have been taken to local medical facilities and Michael Cole explained WWE takes the utmost care in ensuring the safety of its performers. Sometimes, things happen that not even WWE is equipped to handle.

The show kept up the storyline during the show that they would keep fans in the loop as to the condition of both wrestlers.

What This Means

It can't be a coincidence that WWE went with a completely unique angle on the same show that Paul Heyman makes his Executive Directing debut for Raw. This angle was absolutely something fans could see Heyman writing as it had a much more extreme feeling and Graves had to have been scripted to use the language he used.

Even if Heyman was not behind the storyline, fans are going to immediately jump to the assumption this is his idea. Either way, the first 20 minutes of Raw was more memorable than any segment Raw has offered all year. That's a good start.
