After a series of matches that ensured WWE was wise to move away from the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns feud and despite a ton of unanswered questions as to why Roman hasn't gotten an immediate rematch after the fiasco that was the Greatest Royal Rumble, fans are ready to move on. Very people want to see Reigns vs. Lesnar again and it seems WWE agrees because rumors are, that match may be reworked.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that while Lesnar is set to defend his Universal Championship against Reigns, whispers are WWE might be considering other options. If so, we can think of a handful of names that could take Reigns' place.

Here are a few names that we believe would be better opponents for Lesnar than Reigns would be.

Seth Rollins

Rollins is the obvious choice here. Likely the most popular WWE Superstar on the roster, he's definitely the most popular on Raw. Rollins had a momentary beef with Lesnar after Rollins' title win at WrestleMania but that beef was never truly explored and with his ability to put on a great match, Rollins would be the best in-ring opponent for Lesnar from the red brand side of things.

His stomp finisher is a move that could beat Lesnar and the exchanges that could happen between him trying to land it versus potentially leaving himself open to an F-5 would be fun to watch.

Rollins would need to lose the Intercontinental Title first, but that's not too hard to accept on Rollins' part if it means he gets a run as Universal Champion.

Daniel Bryan

He's not on Raw, his contract is coming up and his first order of business is The Miz, but if Daniel Bryan can get all of that sorted by SummerSlam, who wouldn't want to see this match? Bryan wants it, Paul Heyman wants it and Lesnar would be booed out of the building in favor of the Yes! movement. It would be the ideal situation and a great David vs. Goliath story to send Lesnar out of WWE for good.

These are two completely different styles that would mesh extremely well and while the WWE would be concerned about Bryan's health in a match where he's bound to take at least a dozen suplexes, Bryan taking the title from Lesnar would mean more than him taking it from anyone else.

Goldberg

We threw this one in here not because we actually want to see Goldberg come back to the WWE but because we want this name on our list to prove how badly we don't want the match to include Roman Reigns. We'd rather see Goldberg return and spear, then jackhammer Lesnar in another 45-second victory than have another Reigns vs. Lesnar rematch.

At least with Goldberg, there are options and WWE could kick Lesnar and his overpaid contract to the curb in style.

Bobby Lashley

via worldnews.easybranches.com

Rumors have teased the idea of one MMA star fighting another one but from the way things appear these days in WWE, this is extremely far from actually happening. WWE seems more interested in selling Lashley and his three sisters story than they do making him seem like a legit fighter. It's a shame too because people might believe Lashley's MMA background could take out Lesnar and his MMA background.

Honestly, anything to get Lashley away from his storyline with Sami Zayn would be good for everyone.

John Cena

Yes, Cena is mostly gone. He's becoming a big movie star and fans have settled into him not being around but there is one thing that looms over his legacy. He didn't overtake Ric Flair to become the winningest heavyweight titleholder in WWE history.

Cena deserves it. Simple as that and we could mark out for his return if it meant unseeding Lesnar as the champion.

CM Punk

It's wishful thinking, we know, but there's something about the fact that Lesnar just passed CM Punk's position as title holder for consecutive days that irks us. Lesnar didn't earn it. He didn't defend his title, he sat at home collecting a cheque and Punk would have a legit beef and immediate storyline if he came back and challenged Lesnar.

Of course, it might not seem believable after Punk's second consecutive loss in UFC, but this is wrestling, not MMA and Punk could have the advantage. All WWE needs to do is let bygones be bygones, convince Punk to reconsider his stance on never returning to wrestling and meet his financial demands. That's not too tricky, is it?
