Roman Reigns narrowly escaped disaster at the conclusion of this week's episode of SmackDown Live, just barely getting out of the way from falling equipment and debris backstage.

A confused Reigns and WWE officials looked around trying to figure out what had just happened, and who the culprit was. It seemed quite obvious that somebody backstage was trying to injure Reigns on purpose, but that's not the conclusion WWE has come to.

WWE.com provided an update on their investigation in a statement. It's been"determined that the incident in question was specifically caused by a forklift driver error," and that they haven't identified the forklift driver yet.

There was speculation that Buddy Murphy was the culprit, but that doesn't appear to be the case now. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that Reigns will go up against Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam - which provides a major hint that the former WWE Champion was the "forklift driver" and perpetrator.

WWE hasn't confirmed the Bryan-Reigns match at SummerSlam yet, but we can expect them to do so on next week's episode of SmackDown Live. There won't be much time to build things up, but it's reasonable to believe that Bryan will be revealed as Reigns' attacker on Tuesday.

Since his return from battling Leukemia, Reigns has been wrestling on a part-time basis in WWE. Reigns had a brief feud with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre - teaming up with The Undertaker to take the powerful duo down at Extreme Rules. Reigns, like Bryan, is in need of a new feud. That's why it makes perfect sense to pit the two against one another at a major event like SummerSlam.

What This Means

It'll be interesting to see how WWE reveals Reigns' attacker, which again, is likely Daniel Bryan. Will they have witnesses come forward? Is there backstage surveillance footage? The possibilities are endless here, and next week's episode of SmackDown Live certainly won't be lacking intrigue and entertainment.
