It is no secret to anyone that has watched any WWE this year that the company's women have been absolutely outstanding. We don't think some fans realize exactly how valuable the women's division has been, though. We definitely don't think WWE realizes that. By the time you're done reading this article, you'll wonder what on Earth WWE would have done if it didn't have the females it currently has under its employ.

It hasn't been a peaks and valleys type deal for the women in 2018 either. The division has led the way from the start of the year right up until now. Female Superstars did main event both the first PPV and the last after all. The first one was, of course, Royal Rumble. For the first time ever, WWE's women got their very own 30-person match with the winner earning a title shot at WrestleMania. That match was won by Asuka, who also won the main event during the last PPV of the year, TLC. We like what you did there WWE, whether it was intentional or not.

Speaking of WrestleMania, there has been a lot of talk as to whether WWE's women can headline the biggest show of the year sometime soon. If 2018's WrestleMania is anything to go by, yes they can. Three performances stood out at WrestleMania 34. Charlotte Flair, Asuka, and Ronda Rousey. The first two's match against one another was absolutely outstanding and probably should have headlined this year's show with the benefit of hindsight. Then you have Rousey. What a year she has had, and it all started with her debut on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.

Remember when a chunk of us were fearful Rousey wouldn't be able to cope in WWE? What on Earth were we worried about? The Rowdy One has taken to the business more quickly than anyone since Kurt Angle. Her MMA background and lifelong wrestling fandom has served her well. From an outstanding debut to becoming Raw Women's Champion to stand out performances opposite Flair and Nikki Bella. Plus, the most exciting thing of all, there are even bigger things to come for the former UFC Champion in 2019.

While we're reminiscing about Rousey's surprisingly great match versus Bella, we would be remiss not to now talk about the pinnacle of not just the women's division in 2018, but all of WWE if you ask us. Evolution. A year's worth of PPVs and we honestly can't think of a show we enjoyed more from WWE this year. As we said, Bella versus Rousey was fantastic, and Flair versus Lynch in a Last Woman Standing match may very well have been WWE's match of the year. If this doesn't become an annual tradition, and is laid out in the same way, then WWE will have seriously missed a trick.

If you're still not convinced most of WWE's 2018 PPVs were made great by their women's matches, then cast your mind back to the two of the year that didn't feature females at all. Greatest Royal Rumble and Crown Jewel both took place in Saudi Arabia so women were not allowed to perform on the show. Not only were the two shows easily the worst PPVs of the year, but Crown Jewel, in particular, was one of the worst WWE shows in recent memory. Why Saudi Arabian higher ups don't want to see women wrestle is beyond us, especially with how talented the current crop of females is. Did they not watch Evolution five days before Crown Jewel?

We have spent a lot of time focusing on matches and PPVs but not enough time on the individuals that have shined this year. With that, it's time to talk about The Man. Who saw the meteoric rise of Becky Lynch coming? Certainly not WWE. It's also unfair to say it has been taking place for the entire year. It really picked up steam when she turned on Flair at SummerSlam. In the four months since then, Lynch has basically become the biggest star in the company. Harking back to what we were saying earlier if Lynch versus Rousey doesn't headline WrestleMania 35, we riot.

Last but not least, a woman who has popped up numerous times already in this article, Charlotte Flair. That's exactly why she maybe deserves more credit than any other woman in WWE right now. Some fans have been claiming Lynch has taken The Queen's place and that she has lost some steam in 2018, but that is simply not true. From her WrestleMania match to winning the title at SummerSlam to her actions at Survivor Series. Flair has been ever-present in almost all of the top female angles in WWE this year and that is no accident. If it is going to be a triple threat between Flair, Lynch, and Rousey at WrestleMania 35, we are more than okay with that.
