Former WWE writer Chris DeJoseph is finally talking after rumors he was let go following inappropriate remarks. His story doesn't exactly match the narrative of why and how he was let go.
Saying he "totally dodged a bullet" the former writer for WWE was rumored to have been let go after he was part of a Zoom conference call and made some remarks that shed a bad light on WWE. Dave Meltzer noted,"he said things that he shouldn't have and according to some versions came off to them in a bad way, and Vince McMahon found out and that was it."
But, if you read DeJoseph's recent tweets, he seems to have a different take on his release. He writes, "After ten years away wasn’t really into giving my life to the unpredictable whims of one person. But I believe in @bruceprichard and his vision." He then said, "Life is better than no life."
The insinuation here is that working under Vince McMahon was a constant struggle with no idea what was coming next, and not in a good way. While DeJoseph doesn't name McMahon personally, the only other person he could be talking about is Paul Heyman, but his tweets came out after news of Heyman's removal as Raw Executive Director. It doesn't seem logical he would throw Heyman under the bus after Heyman had been relieved of his duties.
So too, there have been longstanding rumors that Vince is the type of person to just drop an idea or change something regardless of the buildup or time spent making an idea work. That's probably maddening for creative writers who spend hours, if not longer trying to come up with workable storylines for WWE programming.
There's No Clocking Out in WWE
The other hint here is that DeJoseph is suggesting the job was thankless and never-ending. He hinted that he's excited to have his life back and that being in a questionable work environment is only made worse because you can't clock out.
DeJoseph may be deflecting what really happened here, but if his tweets are a true reflection of his feelings, he seems to be happy the way things turned out and glad to have his life back.
