One of the most common questions asked of The New Day is when are they going to split up? Well, Xavier Woods has now given us a definitive answer.
Last week on SmackDown Live, The New Day became Tag Team Champions for the fifth time in WWE. The trio will be hoping that this reign is as successful as their last which ended up being the longest in WWE history. Whether Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E are champions or not, they are always plagued by one question, when are you going to break up?
While the trio has become one of the best and most successful teams in WWE during its four years together, there's no doubt that all three men would also make terrific singles stars. Kingston knows all about what it's like to be near the top of the pile in WWE singles competition, and Big E has been an Intercontinental and NXT Champion in the past.
The one New Day member who didn't really experience a significant singles run prior to the team's formation is Woods, however, he has no desire for the trio to break up. "I have zero desire to go to work and not work with my friends," Woods revealed to Give Me Sport. He acknowledged that it's the question they get asked most and that all teams in wrestling end up turning on each other, but New Day will be the exception to that rule.
Here's a snippet of my chat with @XavierWoodsPhD at #insomnia63 and he addresses the internet's speculation on when the New Day will break up and which member of the group will turn on the group first. @TrueKofi? @WWEBigE? Himself? Just watch. #WWE pic.twitter.com/LK8lTWRR5B— Alex McCarthy (@AlMac_GMS) August 25, 2018
Judging by Woods' comments, his fellow New Day members wholeheartedly agree with his sentiment. In fact, the Tag Team Champion went on to say that all three of them will retire before they turn on one another. As you can see from the clip above, he was also sure to hammer home that his comments are not a part of an angle, he really means it when he says New Day will be together for the rest of their respective careers.
While breaking up tag teams is something WWE loves to do, it's understandable why that hasn't yet been done with The New Day. Not only do the three of them clearly sell massive amounts of merchandise, but they put on incredible matches time and time again. New Day's match with The Bludgeon Brothers was top notch, as was their match with The Bar a couple of weeks before that, and their rivalry with The Usos in 2017.
