New York baseball fans will have to wait another day to see Giancarlo Stanton make his Yankee Stadium debut, as their home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays got postponed on Monday due to snow:

It's rare for an MLB game to be postponed due to snow, especially considering the season runs from the beginning of spring all the way to fall. The home opener has now been rescheduled for 4:05 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

The original schedule called for the Yankees and Rays to play on Monday, have an off day Tuesday then complete the two-game set on Wednesday, so no double-headers will be necessary here.

But it's obviously a disappointing day for the passionate Yankees fans, who were excited to see the dynamic duo of Stanton and Aaron Judge - two sluggers who clubbed over 50 home runs last season.

The Yankees split a four-game series on the road against the AL East rival Toronto Blue Jays, with the Pinstripes taking the first two before dropping the final pair. They're among the World Series favorites entering 2018, with a powerful lineup and a strong rotation fronted by Luis Severino, C.C. Sabathia, Masahiro Tanaka and Sonny Gray.

New York currently sits half a game behind the rival Boston Red Sox (3-1), for first in the AL East, but there are 158 games to go in what should be a whacky season in The Bronx. The Yankees power duo of Judge and Stanton has been compared to the Murderer's Grow lineup that featured Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in the 1920s.

Yankees fans willy finally get to see Judge and Stanton at home for the first time, they'll just have to wait until Tuesday.
