Zelina Vega has been at the WWE Performance Center, and apparently it wasn't just a flying visit to check in on her friends.

Six months after what was a very controversial release, Fightful Select reports Zelina Vega may well be returning to WWE. The former WWE Superstar has been at the Performance Center recently. Not to pay her former employers a visit or to hang out with friends she still has at the company, but to train with a view to a return.

While the report doesn't state whether Vega is once again under contract, apparently she was being filmed for an upcoming project and her returning to the fold is the goal. Unlike other wrestlers to have been released after Vega left the company, she hasn't teased appearances elsewhere, AEW or otherwise.

Vega was released by WWE shortly after the company introduced new policies regarding employees' use of third-party sites. While it was never confirmed, it's thought Vega and WWE parted ways over a dispute regarding exactly that. Vega had announced she planned on starting an OnlyFans account, and also boasts a large following on Twitch. It should also be noted that Vega's work on Twitch has slowed somewhat recently, further suggesting she might be nearing a WWE return.

If Vega were to rejoin WWE, it certainly wouldn't be the first time the company has let someone go only to hire them back relatively quickly. Emma, who now goes by Tenille Dashwood, was fired and then hired back just days later. Last year Heath Slater was brought back to Raw after getting released, although in that instance it was for one night only.

Vega's husband Aleister Black has remained under contract with WWE throughout her absence from the company. The Dutch Superstar recently returned to TV, teasing a new faction he will head up via a series of vignettes. Perhaps Vega will now be a part of those plans should she return to WWE. Whether she will re-sign at all remains unclear. WWE would do well to patch the relationship up as Vega demonstrated she is both a talent in the ring and on the mic throughout her first run with the company.
