Following his victory over Damian Priest on last night's episode of WWE Raw, Hall of Famer Edge indicated to the Toronto crowd that he'll retire in his hometown next year.

After Raw went off the air, Edge took a microphone and told the fans that his plan is to retire in Toronto next year. The Rated-R Superstar recently admitted that the end of his wrestling career "is in sight." So unless he changes his mind, it appears as though the former WWE Champion will call it quits by 2023.

On Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestleTalk), Dave Meltzer reported that The Ultimate Opportunist "signed a three-year deal when he came back, but of course if he wants to retire he can retire."

After a nine-year retirement, Edge made a surprise return in the men's 2020 Royal Rumble match. If that's when his current WWE deal started up, that means the contract would expire at some point in 2023. If it does run up by early 2023, one can only assume that WWE would happily give Edge a short-term extension.

Edge

The soon-to-be 49-year-old wrestling legend has been a key member of the main event scene since returning in 2020. The two-time Royal Rumble winner headlined WrestleMania 38 (with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan) and Money in the Bank 2021 (again with Reigns).

WWE's Reported Upcoming Plans For Edge

It appears as though Edge's feud with The Judgment Day — the stable he founded after WrestleMania 38 — will continue. After defeating Priest on Raw, he was attacked by Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor. Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, Edge's wife, then appeared and picked up a steel chair to end the attack.

Meltzer also suggested that WWE is building towards a Clash at the Castle match that would see Edge, Phoenix and Rey Mysterio team up against Balor, Ripley and Priest. Clash at the Castle will be held inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Sept. 3.
