This week's episode NXT featured a fantastic main event between Pete Dunne and Carmelo Hayes. The match was so good, it made up for a fairly lackluster show otherwise. There were eight matches on the card, some of which were too fast to really be enjoyable and others which were good, but didn't quite measure up to the main event.

The winners on the night were Dunne and Hayes, Solo Sikoa and Toxic Attraction, all of whom looked strong coming out of the two-hour program. The losers were Boa and some of the other bouts on the card that felt rushed. The other takeaway from the show is that War Games is back, which is always good news.

Winner: Toxic Attraction vs. Io Shirai, Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

This match had the fans chanting "This is awesome" and it wasn't bad. In reality, watching the highlights on YouTube was probably a better way to watch this bout as it showcased all of the top spots during the contest and removed some of the awkward moments where it was clear some of the lesser experienced women in the bout were still a bit green. Io Shirai and Mandy Rose stood out as experienced and Kacy Catanzaro threw in some pretty cool high spots. The rest of the match was merely ok and smartly booked in a way that hid some of the inexperience.

Toxic Attraction picks up the win here, which is smart booking considering they are the "it" faction in NXT right now. The best plan is to keep them on a roll and building momentum from week to week.

Winner: Kay Lee Ray

Ray is a future main eventer in the Women's Division on NXT. She's one of the shining female stars on the brand and her match with Sarray proved she's on an upward trajectory. When you watch her, you can't help but think about the kind of knock-out and physical war she could have with someone like Io Shirai and tear the house down. The downside of this match was that it was too short. Both competitors needed more time to build up steam. Had that happened, this really could have been a strong match.

Winner: Dunne vs. Hayes

This might have been the best match NXT has offered since rebranding itself into NXT 2.0. A little old school NXT-meets-new-school was the perfect clash of styles and imagery as both competitors went all out and gave the fans and bout that was entertaining, physical and a teaser for what we can only hope is the start of more matches to come. Towards the end, there was a lot going on as Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis made for a distraction. This isn't a huge issue if a rematch comes down the line. If it doesn't, that would be an unfortunate way to end such a strong in-ring contest.

Gargano grabbed the boot of Hayes while hiding underneath the ring which allowed The Bruiserweight to hit the Bitter End for the win.

Winner: Solo Sikoa

Sikoa was booked like an unstoppable force on Tuesday as he challenged both Grayson Waller and LA Knight to a Triple Threat Match. Sikoa was so dominant Knight and Waller had to try and work together to slow him down, but their alliance didn't last. Sikoa hit a diving splash on Knight for the win. This was a strong match that let all three men show they have some serious talent and could be major players on a brand that is still trying to determine who its future stars are.

If Bron Breakker is the clear face of NXT moving forward, the one person who could potentially challenge Breakker for that title is Sikoa. He has the goods and the talent to be a major player and it will be shocking if he's around long. It seems so obvious he should join the Blood Line.

Loser: Boa vs. Joe Gacy

One of the issues when trying to introduce so many new characters so quickly is that you run the risk of repeating yourself with other brands. NXT seems to be doing that with Boa, whose new face paint and musical light show during the match feels a lot like The Demon King, only not as effective. During his match with Gacy, the lights flickered and he flipped a switch mentally, using a claw to choke Gacy until he got himself disqualified.

As Boa seemed to snap out of it and leave the arena, Gacy looked at the camera and seemed to like being choked. It was a strange set of sequences that didn't quite make its mark.

NXT Match Results

* Toxic Attraction defeated IoShirai, Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter by pinfall after Dolin hit an abdominal stretch bomb for the pin.

* Kay Lee Ray defeated Sarray with a KLR Bomb on the announce table then a second in the ring to win.

* Gacy defeated. Boa by disqualification after the official had no choice but to call the match because Boa refused to break the chokehold.

* Creed Brothers defeated Jacket Time by pinfall. Diamond Mine got involved and Roderick Strong attacked Jiro only to roll him into the ring where he got hit with a powerbomb and a pin.

* Cameron Grimes defeated Feng by pinfall. Duke Hudson then came out and challenged Grimes to a Poker Showdown for next week. Grimes accepted.

* Sikoa defeated L.A. Knight and Grayson Waller by pinfall in a Triple Threat Match. Sikoa hit a top-rope splash onto Knight for the pin.

* Elektra Lopez dominated Erica Yan for the win. This was less about the match and more about the dynamic between Lopez and Xyon Quinn that followed. She invited Quinn to join Legado del Fantasma, to which he declined. He took out the members of the group and when Lopez went to slap him, there was a tease of a future romance between the two.

* Pete Dunne defeats Carmelo Hayes in a non-title match after a distraction from Gargano who was underneath the ring and dressed like Dexter Lumis.
