It was 10 months ago at WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames IV that Pat McAfee last participated in a match. That match was a WarGames match, and it was only the second proper match of McAfee's career. His first match took place at TakeOver XXX, a few months prior to WarGames. On that night, Pat went one-on-one with Adam Cole. Talk about baptism by fire.

The man who would go on to be hired as SmackDown's color commentator was highly praised for his performances in each of his two WWE matches, despite failing to win either of them. As a result, he's in no hurry to get back in the ring ... although he would like to get a victory under his belt at some point.

"My body hurt so bad. I fractured my left big toe when I did the moonsault through somebody on the table," McAfee said of his last match during a recent chat with Ariel Helwani. "It was literally as soon as I got in the ring. As soon as I got in the WarGames match, I had to get four tables from out under the ring, I was winded, they are very heavy. The first thing I did was a moonsault through somebody on the table," he continued. "I had never done one. In theory, I thought I could do it. I had done it onto the crash pad I had in the ring in my office. I had never actually done it onto someone. First minute in the match, I did a moonsault and I don't turn my feet out so my toe just goes straight into the mat. Fracture my big toe. Then the flip off the top, the match with Adam Cole, I got kicked so hard in the middle of the face!"

McAfee, a former football player, said that working actual matches increased his admiration for people who do it full-time.

"The amount of respect I had for every man and woman who gets in the ring after my first match, I had massive respect for them, but it grew," the former Indianapolis Colt punter confessed, before conceding that he will probably wrestle again at some point. "I'm a delicate flower, but let's assume I'm probably gonna get back in. Let's assume. I gotta win at some point. I can't be completely defeated, but my body was beat up. I was very sore."

McAfee became SmackDown's color commentator back in April following a brief but successful stint in NXT where he served as a broadcaster and an in-ring talent. On his SmackDown debut, McAfee was referred to as a "former NXT Superstar" by Michael Cole.
