If WWE legend Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson wants to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, the latter and Paul Heyman will happily accept.

For several years, fans have speculated on a dream match between Reigns and the 50-year-old wrestler-turned-actor. Though The People's Champion announced his retirement from professional wrestling in the summer of 2019, he later expressed interest in doing a match with Reigns.

WrestleMania 39 will take place inside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California next year. Given The Rock's star power and the fact that WrestleMania will take place in the giant Los Angeles market, "The Show of Shows" definitely feels like the opportune time to run this dream match.

During an appearance on the MackMania podcast (h/t Sportskeeda Wrestling), Heyman stated that he and Reigns will grant The Rock a championship match if he so desires. Heyman also made it very clear on who he thinks would emerge victorious in the long-rumored showdown.

"I mean, listen, if Dwayne Johnson wants the publicity to lose to Roman Reigns, we'll give him a title match," Heyman said. "He doesn't even have to wait in line or win a battle Royal or whatever, there's box office there. I'm impressed with what Dwayne Johnson has done outside of WWE and I would counsel Roman Reigns that we could make a special provision to defend the title and smash Dwayne Johnson. Dwayne Johnson wants to take that beating, he is more than welcome to step up to The Tribal Chief, as long as he understands that when the match is over, he's going to be like everyone else, and that he's going to acknowledge The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns."

For what it's worth, The Rock has the second-best odds of winning the 2023 men's Royal Rumble match at BetOnline (+550). He trails only Cody Rhodes, the overwhelming betting favorite at -115. Behind those two is Reigns, who holds the third-best odds at +800.

Reigns recently reached the 700-day mark as the Universal Champion. If he holds the title up until Aug. 30, the 37-year-old superstar will have hit two years as the Universal Champion.

The Rock's Last WWE Match

The People's Champion last wrestled an official match six years ago WrestleMania 32. In a match that was announced at the last minute defeated, The Rock defeated Erick Rowan via pinfall in just six seconds. The Wyatt Family ambushed The Rock outside of the ring, but John Cena made a surprise return (he was sidelind with a shoulder injury) and assisted his former rival. Together, The Rock and Cena managed to fight off The Wyatt Family off.
