A busy and successful acting career has mostly kept John Cena away from the WWE scene for several years now, but a new report suggests that he will return for the company's premier pay-per-view event in five months.

Though Cena has only wrestled on a part-time basis since 2017, he was usually involved at WrestleMania events. The 16-time world champion, however, was absent from the WrestleMania 37 and WrestleMania 38 events. His last appearance for "The Show of Shows" was WrestleMania 36, where Cena lost a pre-taped cinematic match to Bray Wyatt.

While speaking to Louis Dangoor of GiveMeSport, WrestleVotes stated that the wrestler-turned-actor "should be" at WrestleMania 39 weekend, and that "Cena should be wrestling." WrestleMania 39 will take place at SoFi Stadium (home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers) on Apr. 1-2 weekend in Inglewood, California.

John Cena during his 2021 return

After more than a year away from WWE, Cena returned at the end of Money in the Bank 2021 to confront Reigns, who had just defeated Edge to retain his Universal Championship. Cena and The Tribal Chief headlined SummerSlam 2021, with Reigns coming out victorious to prevent Cena from capturing a record 17th world championsip.

Another Legend Returning For WrestleMania 39?

Cena may not be the only marquee star returning for WrestleMania 39. Nothing has been confirmed, but WWE is reportedly hoping to set up The Rock vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at the event as well.It was also reported last week that 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin would "listen" to offers for a WrestleMania 39 appearance. The Texas Rattlesnake briefly ended a 19-year in-ring retirement to face Kevin Owens in a winning effort at WrestleMania 38 earlier this year.

With WrestleMania 39 takes place in the giant Los Angeles market, adding two marquee sports entertainment names and actors in The Rock and Cena could make this show that much better. We'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out in the coming months.
